FlexyBill Billing by Phone, Mobile and Card

How it Works

How it works - the Payment

FlexyBill gives your business the option of billing for low cost items by telephone, mobile phone, credit or debit card tariff and is an ideal way to for pay for access and products, content such as web services, software, subscriptions and tickets.

FlexyBill micro billing is the ideal payment method for low value items such as web services, software, subscriptions and tickets

There are two parts to the FlexyBill system. You advertise a product code which is a code unique to you - the first four digits are your account code and the rest represents this product, which could be:

A CD of Queen's Greatest Hits
Access to FinancialInfo2008.com for 1 hour
Ticket for the Blackpool Funicular Railway Valid on 13th March

Product codes can be as long as you wish and at least 5 digits long (note shorter unique product codes are available on the FlexyBill+ account).

Your customer chooses how they would like to pay.

In the first instance, they will receive a PIN code:

Pay by Premium Rate - charge their land line bill

The customer dials 0907 576 0907 and enters the product code on their phone keypad. Depending on the type of product, they may be asked to enter additional information, such as their postcode.

The length of the call will be determined by the price they need to pay for the product. Just before the end of the call, they will hear their PIN number, confirming their order.

Pay by SMS - charge their mobile phone

The customer sends a text message to 88199 containing the product code. Depending on the type of product, their text message may contain additional information, such as their postcode and house number.

They will receive 'reverse billed' text messages back to their mobile phone for the value of the product. The last message they receive will contain their PIN number, confirming their order.

Pay by Credit or Debit Card

Note: You must have a credit card Merchant Account valid for customer not present (MOTO) transactions for this option.

The customer dials national rate number 0870 345 3030 and enters their product code. Depending on the type of product, they may be asked to enter additional information, such as their postcode.

They will then enter their credit card details and some security information to ensure that the card is valid. The card will be authorized by secure link to the bank and the payment will be deducted from their card while they are on the phone line. If the transaction is successful, they will be told their PIN number.

For further details see the CardByPhone Service.

So they now have paid and have a FlexyBill PIN number!

How it works - the Delivery

How your product is delivered depends on what it is:

Web Content

The customer can enter their FlexyBill PIN number on a web form. After authentication with FlexyBill's servers, they will be directed to the site or pages with the premium content you wish to charge them for. You will need to insert a snippet of code on each page to be secured. They will be able to view these pages for a maximum time determined by the product code, set by you in the control panel.

Mobile Content

X-on can provide delivery of mobile content, including text messages, binary SMS (ringtones, logos), WAP bookmarks and MMS content directly from the PIN number generated by the FlexyBill billing system. Or, by using the web access system for web content above, you can integrate with your own or third party gateways.

Web Download

The PIN code release to the customer can be supplied to you to enable them to download content or software from a web site. PIN codes can be delivered to your servers by Email or HTTP allowing you to enable the download.

Pay for Product

Further information can be gathered for order completion on a web site by allowing the customer to complete a form, once they have a FlexyBill PIN code. The FlexyBill system allows the postcode, numerical house information and phone number to be collected during the billing process. This order will be delivered to you for fulfilment by email.

Pay for Ticket

The FlexyBill PIN code will be the customers proof of purchase. Valid PIN codes for an event or journey will be supplied to you by email or to your entry systems via HTTP. If purchase is made on the Internet, self-printed tickets can be produced for presentation by the customer.

What's Included in FlexyBill

By enabling your sales process for FlexyBill, you can start taking orders via the web or through press advertising immediately for your products and services. All promotion must comply with the requirements of the PhonePayPlus code of conduct and you will be bound by FlexyBill's Terms and Conditions, the Distance Selling Regulations 2000 and the Sale of Goods Act.
